How do I register for a class?
Registration is a simple process and takes just a few minutes to complete. Either come by the front desk at Dance Colorado where you can view class schedules, or check out the class schedules online then give us a call at 719.473.1395. We can take your registration over the phone.

What is a Dance Colorado group class like?
Classes at Dance Colorado run for either 45 minutes or 1.5 hours and occur in the evenings.  Each class is taught by a professional instructor.  Partners are rotated throughout the class (exception: couples are not required to switch partners if they do not wish to).   Proper attire should be worn for comfortable movement (i.e. women should not wear short, tight skirts that restrict dance moves).  Shoes should be either dance shoes or at least have the ability to slide across the floor; sneakers are not recommended.

Which class should I take?
Once you've decided on a style (Ballroom, Latin, Argentine, or Country Western) to study, picking a class (or two) at Dance Colorado is easy.  Classes are almost exclusively level based; a beginner class in any style, no matter the specific topic matter, is a beginner class. This simply means that there are no prerequisites. After you've found the class you are interested in, just jump in and take it!

Should I register with a partner?
Bringing a partner is not required. All classes, except those specifically denoted in the class description as "partner required," will rotate partners.  However, couples are welcome and are not required to switch partners.

What level should I enroll in?
There are a few different ways to choose what level you should take.  You may watch a class and see where you fit. Otherwise, you may inquire with our front desk staff as to which level may be best suited. If you do sign up for a class and it is not the appropriate level, simply talk to the instructor and ask them what you should do.

If you are an experienced dancer but have not yet taken classes at Dance Colorado, perhaps a refresher course at a level which you are most comfortable will help you define which classes would offer you the most for your time.

How long will it take to learn one of these styles?
Each person has their own learning curve. We recommend you feel very comfortable at one level before proceeding to a higher level. Ask your teacher if they think it's time for you to move up a level. Obviously, your success will depend greatly on your dedication to the style. The more you practice what you learn, the faster you will become comfortable with your style.

Is there anything that I can read that will help me learn?
Of course! There is an overview available that describes the Dance Colorado Curriculum.  You can also check out various reading and viewing material on DanceVision.com.

Group Class Policies
  • Carryover of registration fees to another semester may be done under extraordinary circumstances and with the approval of studio management. A $10 administrative fee and partial class charges will be applied. There are no cash, check or credit card refunds given.
  • Any relevant credits will be made in the form of studio credit ONLY, to be used at Dance Colorado within one year.
  • All classes start at either 6:15pm or 8:30 pm.
  • Leader-Follower Ratio Registration does not guarantee an equal balance of leaders and followers in any given class.
  • All 8 hours of your group class must be taken within the 8 week course in which you are registered. Important note: 8-week courses do NOT always coincide with the calendar month.
  • For more policies, please refer to our Policies Page.

Make-Up Classes
Make-up classes can be taken in place of any regularly scheduled class which you miss. The make-up class must be taken within that same 8 week course. Classes not taken will be lost.

You may take a make-up class in:

  • Your dance, up to and including your present level in that dance.
  • A basic class in a new dance other than the one you are studying.

Although not recommended (since 8 week courses are progressive), a student may take a single, drop-in class within the first four weeks of a course for $20. Drop-ins are NOT permitted in weeks 5-8 without instructor permission.
